Sheldon Winter Concerts

Hello Sheldon Music Students and Families,

We are excited to be holding two Winter Concerts on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the Sheldon-Williams Auditorium.  The Choirs will have a concert at 6:15pm and the Bands will have their concert at 7:30pm.  Due to Covid regulations, we are providing 3 tickets/student for the concert they are performing in.  Tickets were sent home last week with all students.  Families will need to sit together in their households and will be separated by seats from others.  Both of these concerts will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend or who feel more comfortable watching from home.  The link will be emailed a day before the concert.

Proof of vaccinations with identification will be required for entry as per SHA guidelines.  Due to this requirement, please plan on arriving early and being seated 5 minutes prior to the start times.  

Choir students will meet in the Student Commons at 5:30pm.  Band students will meet at 7pm with the Junior Band in the Band room and the Senior Band in the library.  Students are to wear 'dressy' black so we would like students to wear black pants, black socks, black shoes and black shirts.

Back to School 2021-2022

 Welcome Sheldon Williams Music Families!  We are excited to be back this school year.  It has been an unprecedented time with a global pandemic and learning how to navigate restrictions and health recommendations.  We are hopeful that our music program will be able to return to some sense of normalcy this school year.  Please keep posted for updates and information as the school year commences.

 

Music Items Return

Hello Music Families!

We are asking for all families to return ties/scarves and music folders.  We will be accepting returns from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 23.  There will be a bin for drop off outside of Sheldon Williams from 9:00am-2:00pm.  Please put the tie or scarf in a ziploc bag and clearly label student name and grade on the bag.  We have had some returned that do not have names on them.  Thank you.

Winnipeg Trip Cancelled

Hello Families.  Following is a copy of the note set home in regards to the Winnipeg Music Trip being cancelled.

"It is after many conversations and much consideration that we regret to inform you that the Sheldon-Williams Collegiate Music Department Spring Tour to Winnipeg has been cancelled.  There were many factors involved in this decision and we can assure you that we did not come to this decision lightly.  We appreciate all of the efforts made by families to get the deposits paid in January.  If you have paid your deposit for the trip, you will be hearing from SWAMP regarding refunds for those payments.

We apologize for any difficulties this may have for you.  We are looking forward to the rest of this year and providing a quality musical experience for our students."

 

Winnipeg Music Trip

Hello Families.  We hope you are staying warm with all these cold days!  The initial payment for the Music Trip to Winnipeg is due.  Please send the initial payment of $150 to swampfees@gmail.com.  The second payment of $150 is due on February 15.  The last payment will be determined based on the final number of students attending.  If you have any questions about the trip, please contact the band or choir teacher.  Thank you! 

Winter Concert

We are so excited for our concert tonight - the groups are sounding great at our final rehearsals this week and we can't wait to entertain you.  We have a silver collection at the door but we also wanted to let you know about a few other things taking place in the foyer tonight!

We will have:

• A hamper for non-perishable food to contribute to the Sheldon-Williams Food Drive, which is sending hampers to eight families next week!
• A 50/50 with the money going towards buses for the Spring Music Tour!
• Tickets for the Wizard of Oz, Sheldon's Musical performing January 15-16, 2020.  The tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. 

The choir students are asked to meet at the school for 6:25pm and the band students are asked to meet at 6:15pm in the band room.
